Keith's February death from stomach cancer aged 62 left Blake Shelton "heartbroken" as he presented Aldean onstage.

In June 2022, the country singer revealed his diagnosis.

Shelton remarked "Heartbroken and honored to be standing here tonight to remember a man who became one of the biggest country music stars of all time, the late great Toby Keith."

He added, "Toby was a complete star. After selling 44 million albums, 33 number-one songs, and 14 ACM awards, including entertainer of the year, Toby left a lasting legacy.

Toby loved his beautiful wife Trisha. He was proud of his three children."

They were "so honored and moved" to have Keith's widow Trisha and their children in the crowd.

Toby was a fantastic friend and a straight shooter who was larger than life. He always shot straight till the conclusion of his heroic journey, which ended too soon."
