Sky win first game of season, Angel Reese sets WNBA record

Angel Reese won her first WNBA game on Saturday, setting a new league standard in the process.

In Chicago's 83-74 victory over Dallas, the former LSU Tiger had 11 points and nine rebounds, seven of which came on offence.

According to Across The Timeline, her 12 offensive rebounds this season are the most for a rookie's first two games in WNBA history.

Since the league's inception in 1997, only three players, regardless of experience (Cheryl Ford, Erika de Souza, and Jonquel Jones), have had more offensive rebounds in the first two games of the season.

One of her most impressive rebounds came in the fourth quarter, with Dallas leading 65-64, following an attempted three by teammate Dana Evans.

Reese battled Wings centre Stephanie Soares in the paint for the ball after the miss, scoring a basket while being fouled for a and-one opportunity.

Her start is even more impressive given that it came against perhaps the league's biggest squad. In addition to 6-foot-6 Soares, who was picked

fourth overall in the 2023 WNBA Draft, Dallas possesses two 6-foot-7 centres, starter Teaira McCowan and backup Kalani Brown, who provide the Wings with outstanding post length.
