Following the controversial commencement speech that Harrison Butker delivered earlier this month
Patrick Mahomes is standing up for the kicker, complimenting him as a man of good character.
After giving a speech at the graduation ceremony at Benedictine College, in which he presented his opinions that many people perceived to be sexist
anti-gay, and politically divisive, Butker has been the subject of a great deal of criticism.
While the Kansas City superstar addressed the criticism against Butker with media during Chiefs practice on Wednesday,
, he also stated that although the two may not agree on every subject, he still possesses the understanding that his teammate is a decent person.
He said, "I know Harrison," just a few minutes ago. Harrison is a three-time Super Bowl MVP
Seven years have passed since I first met Harrison. The character that he demonstrates on a daily basis is what I use to evaluate him, and I believe that he is a good person.
He continued by saying, "There are some things that he said that I don't necessarily agree with, but I understand the person that he is." In an effort to steer them in the right direction, he is doing everything in his power to do so.
There is a possibility that his ideals may not align with mine, but at the same time, I will evaluate him based on the character that he demonstrates on a daily basis, and I believe that he is an excellent individual.
