Grammy-winning 'American Idol' act Mandisa dies at 47.  

Mandisa, a "American Idol" season 5 contestant and popular Christian singer, died. She was 47.  

A singer rep told ABC News that Mandisa was discovered deceased at her home on April 18.  

"At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details," he said.  

"We ask for your prayers for her family and close knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time."  

"American Idol" called Mandisa "an adored icon" on the show and in music.  

She has platinum sales and multiple Grammys. A statement from "American Idol" read: "Her death has devastated the show and her family.  

After winning season 5 of "American Idol," Taylor Hicks called Mandisa "a power house vocalist on our season and she moved to a tremendous career in gospel music.   

Better yet, she was a powerhouse and we shall miss her "Instagram statement.
