Colorado five-star recruit Cormani McClain is quitting Deion Sanders' program and throwing shots.
McClain, 247 Sports' best high school cornerback, visited the transfer portal to find a new school Saturday and made a YouTube video about Sanders' program.
"I prefer not to play for clicks. "I want to be part of a great leadership program that develops players," McClain stated in the "Next Step." video.
McClain said he wants to "change the narrative surrounding my name and be a part of a real and great program that’s going to impact me to the best of my ability."
Sanders recently reacted on McClain's resignation from his program, taking a veiled blow at himself.
"Unfortunately, our program couldn't do it, so I hope he realizes this is the second chance and goes for it, dude, because he's talented. But he must want it."
Sanders' criticism implies that McClain didn't work hard last season, when he recorded 13 tackles and two pass defenses in nine games.
The Buffaloes generated headlines at the start of the college football season with defeating then-ranked TCU, a club that made the national title game the year before, and went 3-0. McClain said he didn't want to play for clicks.
Sanders saw how the transfer portal can hurt a school when 12 players entered before the spring timeframe. After 14 more Buffaloes entered the portal since that window, their total was 26.
In his first season, Sanders added 86 players, 53 of whom were transfers, thanks to the portal.
