Caitlin Clark attempts to stay focused on basketball as the cacophony around her becomes louder.

Caitlin Clark has been a hot topic in sports and beyond this week, following the controversy surrounding Chennedy Carter's hard foul on her in last Saturday's game between the Indiana Fever and the Chicago Sky.   

That spurred discussion regarding Clark's increased attention to the WNBA and Pat McAfee's terrible choice of words when attempting to commend her.  

Clark, on the other hand, paid little attention to the cacophony that surrounded her during the week.   

Prior to Friday's game against the Washington Mystics in D.C., the Fever star said that she avoids social media to preserve some space.   

Of course, when such issues dominate the sports news cycle, they come back to her.  

"I try to block it out. "I don't have social media on my phone, I don't use it, and I don't see much of it," she explained.   

"But I don't think it's any different than when I was in college.   

Everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint... You just have to focus on what's going on in your locker room, in your organization, how the others are feeling.
